Most of the surfing potential is on the east side of the country which offers a wild and scenic coastline. Hiring a car is most definitely the best way to explore the coast and search for the best waves.

When to go
The best time to surf Taiwan is during the winter months (October to April) which will offer the most consistent conditions. However, the typhoon season is when you can score bigger waves (May to September).

Getting there
Fly into Taipei and rent a car/camper van to head to the east coast which is pretty raw.
Safety/things to know
-Typhoons are unpredictable and potentially dangerous
-Taipei is VERY crowded. Worth a visit but for more quietness head out to the coast.
